My first experience with Fashion Week at The Bellevue Collection was last year for the 10th anniversary. I got to attend all three shows on a press pass as the Managing Editor for MODE Fashion Magazine and meet the famous Rachel Zoe. It was a very eye-opening experience and definitely motivated me to continue working my way up in the industry. Now the time has come to settle in for another week of fabulous fashion. And since I’ve been obsessing about what to wear to one of my favorite events of the season, I decided to share some of my inspiration.
My style has evolved quite a bit from my days as an early twenty-something college kid who literally wore jeans, a t-shirt and flip flops (because in Louisiana there is no winter) every day. Since finding my passion for working in the fashion industry a few years ago, I’ve managed to test out new styles until realizing what works best for me and my body type. I’ve grown fond of bodycon dresses since it’s only one piece of clothing that I have to put on and I can show off my curves without showing too much skin. It also allows me to form a solid base to then play around with accessories. I’m always down for a gold statement necklace and don’t even get me started on handbags. I’m attending the four main events later this week. Here’s my inspiration for each night.
Wednesday, September 21: Sips & Suits Wine Tasting & Trend Tour
What better way to “toast men’s fashion with wine and spirits” than with a beautiful wine-colored dress and simple accessories.
Thursday, September 22: Independent Designer Runway Show
The local designers participating in the show have been working to perfect their collection for the last six months. The least we can do is dress to impress for their big night. I’ve decided to finally wear my 4-Way Reversible Bamboo Dress by Katy Flynn, a Seattle-based designer.
Friday, September 23: Post Party Trend Show
You’ll see me in this exact dress for the Posh Party Trend Show. I didn’t even plan on buying it when I went to Express to purchase a necklace for a different dress. The chianti-colored dress jumped out at me, but they didn’t have my size. So I decided to try the festive green since I remember Darcy Camden suggesting that i try adding emerald to my wardrobe this fall at the Pacific Place Color Me Fall Style Event.
Saturday, September 24: Front Row Fashion Presented by @vogue
You’ll also see me in this fabulous Felicity & Coco dress for Front Row Fashion. After overcoming my fear of color (particularly bold reds) a few months ago, I purchased this dress on an impulse shopping trip at Nordstrom in Bellevue. I haven’t found the right event to show it off, but the finale runway show should be the perfect place. I can’t wait!
